Musky Shop Northwoods Fishing Report: Late January 2025
We hope you are all having a great ice fishing season. Ice fishing in the Northwoods of Wisconsin has been very good, and ice conditions are outstanding. Most lakes in the Minocqua area have approximately 20" of ice with very little snow cover, so ice travel is very good. Ice fishing on the Rainbow Flowage and Willow Flowage has been fruitful as well. The Willow and Rainbow Flowages are great for a variety of species.
A good number of walleye are being caught in the 12–18-foot range in rocky areas. Some walleye are also being caught in weeds as well. Jigging, and tip-ups both work very well. Rapala Rippin Raps, walleye suckers, large and medium golden shiners are all great choices for catching good numbers of walleye, crappie, panfish, and Northern pike. Check weeds and/or weeds with rocks at the 5–12-foot range. Crappie Minnows, Rosy Red minnows, Northern Pike minnows, and Large Golden Shiners are best for targeting pike.
Ice fishing in the Minocqua area has been hugely productive for locals, and we hope to see you here. Please feel free to stop by the Musky Shop or contact us. We would be happy to help.
